From Le Porte to Poggio della Pagana

Short hike to the highest mountain on Giglio

A short 20-minute hike takes you to the highest point on the island of Giglio, Poggio della Pagana (496 metres), from where you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view of the Tuscan archipelago. It is a pleasant and easy excursion, ideal for getting to know the territory of the island. In summer, the guides also offer an evening walk called ‘Trekking under the stars’.

Poggio della Pagana

Dalla località “Le Porte”, dove si può parcheggiare facilmente la macchina, ci si direge verso sud lungo il sentiero 303. Il sentiero 303 raggruppa l’inizio di diversi sentieri come quello per il Capel Rosso (303), Poggio di Sasso Ritto (305) o la Spiaggia delle Cannelle (306). Dopo 100 metri, prendere il sentiero (326) a destra che porta direttamentealla cima del Poggio della Pagana.

If you start from the Giglio Castello bus stop (Piazza Gloriosa), the return journey will take an additional 40 minutes. You can either take the asphalt road (sunny) or the off-road 303 (shady), both of which have no great differences in altitude. Alternatively, you can take the trail 333, at least one way, which offers beautiful views of the east coast and the mainland.
