Boat Rental on Giglio Island
To really discover the island of Giglio, the bays, coves and inlets far from the inhabited centers and reachable only from the sea, you can rent a boat (with or without a boat license) in the various locations of the island of Giglio.
Especially for those who come in the middle of the summer, when
the beaches are naturally more crowded, there is nothing more beautiful
than renting a motor boat or a sailing boat, to discover semi-deserted places and inlets that sink into the crystalline waters of the Giglio Island, to which access is allowed only by sea.
The island of Giglio with its 28 km of coastline lends itself very well to being known by sea. Small isolated coves, sandy or pebble beaches and beautiful inlets that open into the rocks overlooking the sea. And in a few hours you can also do a complete tour of the island.
Boat License
Most of the rental boats, both motor boats and dinghies, can be driven without a license. You must be at least 16 years of age to take command and the engine power must not exceed 40 hp.
The rental boats are very easy to drive and do not require a licence or any particular experience. Below are the contact details of the boat hire companies on the island of Giglio.

Boat Rental in Giglio Campese
The small natural harbour “Porticciolo” in front of the Campese Tower is no longer used as a harbour. In 2023 the Guardia Costiera confiscated all the boats moored in the bay for “illegal use of the waters”, as officially there was no harbour. The boat hire companies that were still using the harbour were also reported in 2024. Since then, the last remaining operators have to anchor their boats in the bay and row out to pick up their customers.
