How to get around on the island of Giglio
The island of Giglio only has around 22 km of tarmac roads that connect the villages and the most important beaches. From the port of Giglio Porto, a road leads up to the medieval Giglio Castello (over 400 metres in altitude) and shortly before that down to the beach of Giglio Campese on the west coast. There is also a road from Giglio Castello that leads almost to the southern tip of Capel Rosso.
Along the entire route, the roads meander through the
through the typical landscape of the island, the Mediterranean maquis, which is only interrupted by granite rocks, pine forests and vineyards. The entire route offers amazing panoramic views of the coast and the Tuscan archipelago.

Fuelling stations and electric charging points
On the island you will find two petrol stations, one in Giglio Porto next to the ferry pier (also to refuel boats), and the other on the road that goes up from Giglio Porto to Giglio Castello at the junction for the Arenella. The cost per liter is usually 20-40 cents higher than on land.
Charging station for electric cars
For the moment (spring 2024) there is only one column to charge electric cars at the Hotel L’Arenella – for costs (about EUR 50) and availability please contact the hotel in advance: Tel: +39 0564 809340
